Minimum trainee
requirements

grade B or 6 in GCSE Maths and English
strong attention to detail
excellent (informal) written English
decent IT skills
ability to tolerate dogs

Main tasks initially will be:

preparing accounts and tax returns for small Limited Companies/their owners.
assisting with document preparation for sister company MVL Online.

Over time you’ll communicate directly with clients, gathering data, answer tax/accounting queries, and get involved in other parts of the business that interest you.

The most important skills are therefore the ability to efficiently interpret both accounting data and lay person queries, figure out the consequences, and explain in simple English.

You’ll receive paid study support for AAT/ACCA (as appropriate). Salary increases rapidly with exam passes and experience. Comfortable offices near Tunbridge Wells town centre. Relaxed working environment.

Maslins was the third contractor accountancy I signed up with after having a very poor experience with two of the bigger firms. I'd previously been let down by poor advice, poor communication and... online software that didn't work properly. I initially found the Freeagent contractor accountancy software and loved the look of the product and the feedback it was getting. I then looked for an accountants that used the software and came up with a shortlist. I did a lot of background research into the companies on my shortlist and found a lot of contractor forum posts recommending Maslins with no negative comments. I signed up with Maslins and have found they have always gone above and beyond my expectations. They have always been on hand to give advice and have never let me down in the slightest. I've always been able to ring or email them and get the advice I need immediately.
